Call it Florida Interior Design Style.
Some interior design flows from theory; it is pure, deliberate and inescapably self-aware. Some interior design, like that of barns, bungalows, cabins or seaside villas –those indigenous architectural forms that characterize a particular region or town- appears to emerge more spontaneously out of its surroundings and, at the same time, may be steeped in tradition. From their longtime base in the Miami area, Cuban-American interior design partners Martha Puente, 41, and Beatrice Pila-Gonzalez, 31, have become known for a creative touch that fuses both of these approaches. Their commercial and residential interior design work reflects contemporary interior design’s clean-line, clutter-free standards. And it unabashedly captures the energy and historic influences that have long distinguished this thriving commercial and cultural crossroads.
